Youth and Family Minister
St. Alban’s Episcopal Church
Ministry Mission: to support the spiritual formation of young people at St. Alban’s, ages 0-18, and provide pastoral support to them and their families.
Primary Duties:
- Supervise and train volunteers and/or paid staff for the nursery.
- Select curricula for the spiritual formation of children.
- Equip, support, and schedule adult volunteers to lead the spiritual formation of children using the selected curricula.
- Select curricula for the spiritual formation of teenagers.
- Lead, equip, and support a team of adult volunteers to provide spiritual formation for teenagers using the selected curricula. Work directly with the teens and volunteer adult team.
- Facilitate the connection of people under the age of 18 to the wider ministry of St. Alban’s, including, for example, connecting young people to ministry as acolytes, altar guild members, lectors, outreach participants, ushers, etc.
- Provide pastoral care to youth and families under direction of Priest in Charge/Rector.
If ordained in the Episcopal tradition:

- Preach and/or preside at worship on Sunday mornings as desired, under the direction of the Priest in Charge/Rector, and as the time limits of the work week permit, with the total number of Sundays no more than 35% of Sundays in a given year.
- Provide pastoral care to others in the parish as desired, under the direction of the Priest in Charge/Rector, and as the time limits of the work week permit.
- Work with the Priest in Charge/Rector in administration, such as Vestry meetings or parish record keeping, as desired and as the limits of the work week permit.
Hours: An average of 25 hours per week per year. This is a salaried position, so care will be taken to ensure that if some weeks require more than 25 hours, other weeks will require less, so that the average over a year is 25 hours per week.
Required work times: Sunday mornings, 9:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Monday mornings 10:30 -11:30 a.m. (weekly staff meeting.) Other days and times as determined in coordination with the Priest in Charge/Rector and indicated by the needs of the ministry; will include some weekend times and some evenings.
Training Requirement: Complete Diocesan safeguarding training within six months of employment.
Direct Supervisor: Priest in Charge/Rector
Salary: $32,000 – $39,000 per year depending on experience and ordination status. Also includes employer contributions to a retirement fund and a continuing education budget.
